How to join the WALK30 Challenge as an Elementary School
Elementary School Staff - Participating as a Class or Group
Teachers, administrators, or group leaders will enter their class/group on behalf of their school
Complete the Google Form Registration Here
Download and print the promotional poster, thermometer, and minute tracking sheets for your class/group below.
At the end of the challenge go to walk30.ca/schools to submit the total minutes for your class/group.
How to use the Tracking Sheets
Distribute the sheets throughout the class/group to those who want to participate and ask students to track their walking minutes. This can be their best guess as accurate tracking can be difficult.
Optionally, they can include the activity they participated in when they walked! This can include walking to and from school, walking to a friends house, sports/activities, outdoor learning, or anything else!
Optionally, set walking goals for your students using the thermometer and either colour in the sections or fill them with stickers to see your progress in real time!
Collect your students’ tracking sheets either weekly, bi-weekly, or at the end of the month and calculate the total.

About WALK30
WALK30 is a friendly competition designed to encourage and inspire everyone to establish a daily walking routine for health, the environment and community-building. It’s also an opportunity to spread the word about the need for safer, more walkable streets for kids. All walking and wheelchair trips count!
While the goal is to walk 30 minutes for 30 days during the month of April, any amount of daily walking is incredibly valuable! Your class can choose to participate for 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks or 4 weeks. All elementary schools in Metro Vancouver can sign up.
Why Register?
WALK30 offers the opportunity to build a sense of community, engage students in active and healthy habits.
BEST will provide a downloadable package to schools that register containing walking minute tracking sheets and promotional posters.
Elementary School Prizes
1. Top Elementary School Trophy - Most Minutes Logged (Shoephy Trophy + Pizza or Popsicle Party for participating classes)
2. Elementary School Participation Prize - All schools that sign up + submit walking minutes will be entered to win Freezies for the entire school!
